An LLC has become the entity of choice for operating businesses. At the state level, it is very easily administered and for multi-member LLC’s can offer a wide variety of creditor protection. At the federal level, it can be treated as a disregarded entity or with an election can become a C corporation, S corporation, or even a partnership with a simple election.
